The children at the Nest have had a great time over the last couple of months celebrating all things Spring! Over the last couple of months we have been exploring all the wonderful changes that come with Spring through a variety of fun, creative and hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, imagination and learning through play.
The children have enjoyed talking about the changes they can see in the world around them, from flowers beginning to bloom to brighter weather, baby animals and longer days. These conversations help to support communication and language skills while encouraging children to explore and understand the natural world around them.
To celebrate Spring, the children have taken part in lots of creative activities including:
Flower playdough
Painting flowers
Making butterfly biscuits
Making Spring picture collages
Creating fluffy sheep
Enjoying lots of Easter crafts
Exploring Spring themed oobleck and other sensory trays
Creative experiences like these help to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and self-expression, while also allowing children to build confidence in their own ideas and creations.
We have also spent lots of time outdoors enjoying the fresh air and signs of Spring in our garden and outdoor areas. Nature walks, planting activities and outdoor exploration have encouraged the children to ask questions, observe changes and develop an appreciation for the environment around them.
Alongside the learning opportunities, these activities create lovely moments for children to bond with their friends and key people. Sharing experiences together helps children to feel safe, secure and confident within the setting, supporting their emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging.
It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged, curious and excited while celebrating Spring, and we look forward to continuing our seasonal learning and adventures as we move into Summer!
